Entry Criteria

To qualify for the entry, each product nomination must satisfy the chairman of judges that it meets the PLASA Awards criteria for Innovation. To do so it must clearly show that it does at least one of the following:
  • demonstrates a new style of thinking
  • improves technical practice
  • introduces new technology, new materials or new techniques
  • includes patents or unique intellectual property
  • offers a new commercial advantage
  • improves safety

Judging

All successfully vetted products are judged against one another on the strength of their innovation alone: there are no product categories.

All nominees will have the opportunity to make a 5-minute presentation to a team of judges. Unlike in previous years, these presentations will not be filmed by our video crews, but all nominees will be able to have their product presentations filmed separately as part of their entry package.

Awards

The judging panel will have eight awards of equal standing at their disposal, with the added option of making one or more a 'Gold' Award – reserved for those products which stand out above the rest of the nominees.

Award for Sustainability

In addition to eight Awards for Innovation, the judges can also choose to give the PLASA Award for Sustainability. This award is to recognise products which can claim

  • significant reduction of power usage for its product type/application
  • effective use of renewable energy sources
  • significant reduction of environmental impact of product lifecycle.

Cost

For 2015 we have reduced the entry fee to £250+ VAT (20%). This is a highly preferential rate given the level of publicity generated by the awards in the run-up to the show, on site, and post-show.

The fee covers all administration and judging expenses, the inclusion of your product details and description in our online Innovation Gallery, and the cost of a professionally produced video of your 5-minute product presentation.

Pre-Show Publicity

For exhibitors to benefit from inclusion in the PLASA Show Preview issues of LSi and LSA magazines (October issues), and in the Official PLASA Show Guide their entry must be completed by the close of Monday 7 September at the latest.

Post-Show Publicity

Each presentation video will appear on PLASA’s YouTube channel, at LSiOnline’s VideoHub (www.lsionline.co.uk/video) and will also be made available for exhibitors’ own promotional use after the show.

The Winners will appear on the LSiOnline website and in the November issues of Lighting&Sound International and Lighting&Sound America magazines.
