Now the TMA/BECTU Code is operational, this is a chance for an open debate within the industry as to whether it is working, and in what respects it may or may not be successful in achieving its aim of safer working practices for technical staff.

Iconyx & IC Live – Digitally Steerable Line Array Technology - presented by Renkus-Heinz

Precis of Subject:

This seminar will cover an overview of steerable loudspeaker technology, it’s benefits compared to traditional solutions, and it’s implementation in Renkus-Heinz’s Iconyx series of Digitally Steerable Column Arrays. Iconyx is Renkus-Heinz’s range Digitally Steerable Column Array loudspeakers for challenging acoustic spaces, enabling the designer to aim the sound at the audience and keep it off reflective surfaces minimizing echos and improving intelligibility. IC Live is the latest extension to this range, bringing Digital Beam Steering into the higher output and Live Sound markets. A real, Beam Steered, alternative to traditional line arrays, targeted at corporate events, hotel ball rooms and theatre productions, we’ll be discussing IC Live in detail and giving a hands on demonstration.

Women who work in the still male dominated industry of backstage entertainment and entertainment technology discuss their jobs and careers, what they do, and why they love it.

We will cover the male dominated sectors of our industry including lighting, sound, AV, Stage Engineering, theatre consultancy, crewing, production electrician, hire manager, design etc – pretty much all of it then!

NSDF

NSDF - A different approach to Technical Training - presented by NSDF

Precis of Subject:

60 performances, 180 workshops, 6 discussions, 7 late night events, 7 venues and over 650 students. NSDF is a celebration of young talent as well as an introduction to the pathways into the profession.

This seminar explains how the NSDF Technical Team takes on a crew of 60 young people with an interest in technical theatre - but not necessarily any experience in the field - and trains them in a unique vocational and peer-supported learning environment.
