Re-investing in the industry

PLASA09 GAINS MORE NEW EXHIBITORS, MORE SEMINARS - AND GOVERNMENT CONTRACT PORTAL

Defying the economic gloom mongers and, with two weeks still to go, PLASA09 pre-show registrations currently match last year's record breaking total of 15,000 - a sure sign that this year's show is going to be as high energy as ever.

There will be more for visitors to see, too, as a further 10 new exhibitors have signed up for the show at Earls Court on 13 - 16 September 2009, bringing the total of new and returning exhibitors to 50. The seminar programme has also been expanded with two new audio-related sessions on Tuesday, September 15.

Another major new addition to the Show is the Supply2.gov.uk Lounge, a central feature area giving exhibitors and visitors the chance to get advice from Supply2.gov.uk - the portal which helps SMEs gain access to public sector contract opportunities, typically worth up to £100,000.

PLASA is investing in this new feature area to raise awareness amongst SMEs of how the broad range of public sector organisations procure goods and services, and to provide exhibitors and visitors with information on how to access an industry that spends over £175bn a year on goods and services.

During PLASA09, manufacturers and suppliers will be able to find out more about UK-wide contracts free of charge, by registering in the Supply2.gov.uk Lounge, as well as being able to talk to representatives from this Government-backed initiative. Since its launch, the portal has provided small businesses throughout the UK with some 140,000 contract opportunities nationwide.

Another new addition is the Small Businesses Pavilion which gives innovative young or small businesses the chance to exhibit in their own featured area.

Of the 50 exhibitors new to PLASA09, ten have been confirmed in the past few weeks including, BECTU, Elcom, Hive Industries, JoeCo, Meyer Sound, Music Factory, Pufferfish, STARK, Avid and LED Factory.

The extensive seminar programme, which features an eclectic range of topics across all industry technologies and issues, has also seen two further audio seminars confirmed. Hosted by California-based loudspeaker manufacturer Renkus-Heinz, the first is entitled 'Demystifying Digital Networking' and presents the company's solution in that area, whilst the second, titled 'Iconyx and IC Live - Bringing Digital Beam Steering To Live Sound' demonstrates the company's IC Live system for the first time in the UK.

Show Director Nicky Rowland says, "We are delighted that the show is attracting such a strong turnout, especially in a year like this, and we are certain that these new initiatives will help create strong business opportunities across the industry."

Online registration will remain live up to the show - to register for your half-price ticket visit www.plasashow.com/register
