Rigging Conference 2016

The 7th Rigging Conference is being held this year on the 19th September at Olympia Exhibition Centre. After three successful years at ExCeL London, the conference will again take place alongside the PLASA Show, which is enjoying a return to West London.

Chain of Command

2016 sessions will include one that attempts to decipher the chain of responsibilities involved in staging a production and discuss who is responsible for what and to whom. This is something that many of us struggle with and the introduction of CDM has highlighted the issue. A panel of industry experts representing promoters, production managers and contractors will debate the issue with the help of regulators and enforcers.

Opening presentation

The opening presentation is by Rocky Paulson, well known rigger and founder of Stage Rigging Inc. in California. Rocky retired some years ago but is still regarded as one of the pioneers of what is known as rigging in the entertainment industry world-wide.

Starting his rigging career after leaving the Navy, Rocky toured with the legendary Disney on Parade shows of the early 70s, fitting in concert tours when he could. In 1977 he resumed full time touring with Pink Floyd and started Stage Rigging Inc., probably the first rigging company anywhere. Rocky now spends some of his time teaching the next generation of arena riggers.
