Are We Able To Change Old Habits?
How imposter syndrome, unconscious bias and workplace culture continue to shape careers in live events in many places.
The live events industry has made significant progress in recent years when it comes to diversity, inclusion and wellbeing. Yet many professionals still report feeling like outsiders in their own workplace. Imposter syndrome, unconscious bias, outdated attitudes and, in some cases, gaslighting continue to affect confidence, career progression and retention across the sector.
This panel explores why these behaviours persist despite widespread awareness, and whether we are truly succeeding in changing the social DNA of our industry. Are these challenges simply a reflection of long-established working cultures, or are there practical steps organisations and individuals can take to create lasting change?
Bringing together industry professionals from different backgrounds and disciplines, this discussion will examine personal experiences, organisational responsibility, and the role that mentorship, networks and leadership can play in building healthier and more inclusive workplaces for future generations.
