Fred leads Pilbrow & Partners. He is an architect with over 30 years experience designing award winning projects in the UK and abroad.

His work is shaped by a passion for the craft of building and a belief that architecture should provide a humane and uplifting backdrop to the life of the city.

Fred’s interest and experience encompasses architectural design across a range of sectors including office, retail, research, residential, hospital, hotel and cultural uses.

Amongst his notable projects is the Soho Theatre Walthamstow, a restoration of a Grade II* listed super cinema in Walthamstow. The building has been lovingly transformed and re-imagined, whilst retaining and preserving its unique history. It offers a new, dynamic theatre with a thriving community space.

Other recent projects include the reimagination of the Francis Crick Research Centre, the Phase 5 Hospital for UCLH, and the new flagship M&S on Oxford Street. Prior to Pilbrow & Partners, Fred was a partner at KPF where he was responsible for projects such as Cyprus National Theatre and the Heron Tower at Heron Plaza, which was recognised by the BCO’s Office Building of the Year Award 2012.

From 2009 to 2012, Fred was a founder partner of PLP/Architecture. Before qualifying as an architect, Fred worked in the professional theatre as a set, lighting and costume designer including work on productions at the National Theatre and Royal Court.
