Andrew Bruce
Andrew co-founded Autograph Sound Recording in 1973 while working in the sound department at the Royal Opera House in London. The company was chosen by the pioneering sound designer Abe Jacob to supply and install the sound system for the original London production of A Chorus Line, and went on to supply such milestone shows as Evita, Cats and Starlight Express, along the way pioneering many of the techniques and technologies that became the standards in theatre sound.
Andrew himself was the sound designer for the very original production of Les Misérables in Paris, then the original London production of the show, as well as other including Chess, Miss Saigon, Mamma Mia!, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Mary Poppins, continuing to adopt new technology, particularly the first digital mixing consoles, as they became available. In 2023, Autograph’s 50th anniversary year, Andrew received the Olivier Industry Recognition Award for his work.
