Director,
Wynne Willson Gottelier
It could be said that Peter joined the industry at the age of fifteen when he built the portable searchlight. Two years later he was the Chief Electrician at Harrogate Theatre and at aged nineteen was the West End board operator for ‘Oliver’. From 1966 – 1968 Peter joined the touring fraternity as LD for Pink Floyd, creating their visual image of the time. He was perhaps the original moving light inventor, giving the ubiquitous Parcan life using his PanCan invention which was a commercial success. He continued inventing with effects for Rainbow and products for the Light Machine Company. He partnered with the late, great Tony Gottelier, after whom the Gottelier Award is named, and together they became an innovation power house as Wynne Wilson Gottelier. Some of their most recognised industry innovations include the Caterpillar; Catalyst; Chromascope; Cassette scroller; NAT for Coemar; Razorhead for U2; ‘Fantôme’ for Royal Opera House along with new effects for Pink Floyd, Roger Waters and the Scissor Sisters. He also licenced the LED tube and ultimately sold the patent to Philips.
