WHAT IS THE PLASA LAB?
New for 2026: The PLASA Lab is an immersive demo experience, designed to help visitors look beyond headline specifications and explore the finer differences between professional fixtures.
Fixtures will remain anonymous until the end of each display, keeping the focus firmly on performance, nuance and real-world application.
SCIENCE BEHIND THE FIXTURES
Inside a dedicated, blacked-out testing space in Olympia’s West Hall, products will be examined by category against a consistent range of technical characteristics.
Visitors will be guided through a detailed exploration of each product, looking beyond headline specifications to understand the characteristics that shape its performance in real applications.
CAN YOU KEEP A SECRET?
The identities of participating fixtures will remain under wraps until the end of each demonstration.
Visitors will be encouraged not to share the reveals until PLASA Show has finished, preserving the experience for those attending later sessions.
WHAT WILL BE DEMONSTRATED?
The PLASA Lab will showcase fixtures across seperate demos in a variety of styles, including:
- Spot
- Beam
- Wash
GET HANDS-ON AFTER THE REVEAL
Once each fixture is revealed, you can take control of the consoles, explore the products for yourself and speak directly with the manufacturers behind them.
It is an opportunity to ask technical questions, test key functions and continue the conversation in greater depth.

INDEPENDENTLY GUIDED
The PLASA Lab will be facilitated by James Simpson, an independent lighting professional with more than 20 years of experience across entertainment technology.
Known for his work as an LSi technical reviewer and writer, James will guide visitors through each session with a technically informed and impartial approach.
